What we’re doing around the town
Every year we challenge ourselves to do more and do better. The big incentive is entering a competition! It really brings out the best in everyone, and you’ll see from the documents below what we’ve been working on in this Jubilee year. We have entered the town for the Pennant Cup – an annual competition that pitches Liskeard against other market town of the same size. We look forward to getting the judges verdict at the awards presentation in Crewkerne in October 2022. Fingers crossed!
Our judges portfolio 2022
The RHS judges came to visit us on Wednesday 20 July 2022, and to get them in the mood, we prepared a portfolio to show them what the town was like before flowers came. (it also includes more information about the other work we do and the 25+ people who volunteers with us). https://www.liskeardinbloom.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/LIB-Portfolio-2022.pdf
Learn more about our work across the town
We’ve put together a few articles that explain more about what we do in the town and the people who help us. Read more here: https://www.liskeardinbloom.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/LIB-Learn-more-v2.pdf
Jubilee Flowers: The Fountain Monument
This historic monument was created in 1871 and designed by local architect Henry Rice. Click on the document below to see where our inspiration for the flowers came from.

Jubilee Flowers: The ATS Building
This former carriage works and tyre depot was given a DIY SOS makeover in 2021. Have a look at the ‘before’ pictures here. You might have forgotten how bad it was!

Jubilee Flowers: The Dean Street Garden
Just like the garden at Dean Street, you might have forgotten how neglected this little area was before we planted it out.

Jubilee Flowers: The Cattle Market
Regeneration of the old Cattle Market is underway. Our first piece of work was to create an event space. Here’s how we did it (and that space WILL return in Autumn 2022)

Jubilee Flowers: The Eco Garden
In these times of hotter summers and less rainfall, we’re looking closely at the kind of plants we can use that need less water and less maintenance. Our Eco Garden on Barras Street (by the Royal Mail sorting office) was created by Lynda Fletcher to show what you can do at home.

Jubilee Flowers: Jubilee Coronets
This is how we’ve created a small display of flowers using our Jubilee colour palette:

Jubilee Year 2022: Our Helping Hands
It’s not our gardeners who make the town look cared for. It’s a whole army of more than 25 people behind the scenes who work together to keep Liskeard in Bloom – blooming! read more here.

Liskeard Will Bloom

LIB usually agrees its annual plan by February each year, and we’ve had to make many changes to it as we went along. If we have the restrictions lifted by June or July, we can plant out the centre of town. Thanks to our gardening volunteers, we’ve kept many plants over winter, and they’re being well looked after. Read about our plans here.
Cattle Market improvements

Due to the lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic, this project is postponed until autumn 2020 [24/4/20]
Over the next couple of days, work starts on creating a new event space in the Cattle Market. LIB is part of the work because we have agreed to use some of the money we were given by Cornwall Council last year to improve the high street offering in town. In early March, we’ll be installing large concrete tubs and planting them out with laurel bushes and a variety of spring flowers. All the businesses in the Artisan Quarter are pulling together to improve the entrances into the area and the overall appearance. Follow us on our Facebook page for more photographs as we progress.
