Working with our community

It’s a key part of Bloom that we work alongside people and organisations to create sustainable solutions to the challenges of regeneration. Here are our partner groups:

Liskeard Town Council

Our longest serving partners who kick-started Bloom in 2017 when they gave us a generous grant to buy baskets and flowers. They also give us access to the bowser we use to water the flowers in town as well as unlimited water supplies. We manage their budget for planting and maintenance of the flower beds on The Parade and the small roundabout by Pets-at-Home on Plymouth Road. Two of our Bloom volunteers are Tree Wardens acting on behalf of the Council. We also have a seat on the council’s Environment Emergency Working Group.

South East Cornwall Tourism Association SECTA

Making the town attractive to visitors is a crucial part of our work, and we have direct links to SECTA on our Steering Group, as well as to the town council’s Tourist Information Office.

Chamber of Commerce

Our business partners are the bedrock of what we do: without their support from the beginning, Bloom would not have been possible.

South West in Bloom

The RHS manage the annual Britain in Bloom competitions and a whole range of other environmental schemes around the country. Locally, we work with South West in Bloom to learn from them and in turn, they encourage us to enter the competitions. In October 2019, LIB won a Gold Award in the Pennant Category.

Morley Tamblyn Lodge

Bloom is fortunate to have its own garden base at Morley Tamblyn Lodge where we have free use of one of their polytunnels. Thanks to the centre’s management team, we have the space and facilities to grow our own plants, store our tools and spread our work around. We return the favour by fundraising for MTL throughout the summer by selling growing tomato plants with all profits being returned to them.

Liskeard Town Forum

Town Forum logo

LIB was originally a project out of the Liskeard Town Forum who provided the support structure for our venture into working with the business community. Thanks to the Forum, we quickly established popular support from its membership, its links into other community groups and a platform for reaching out into the heart of the town.

Welcoming new business

We make a personal visit to every new business that opens up in the town and gift them a pot of flowers. It’s our way of say ‘Welcome’ and we’re glad you’re here.
